Ratu Bagus Ashram
The Ashram in Bali has grown from humble beginnings, but now it attracts many people from an array of countries, backgrounds and faiths making the pilgrimage there.
The Ashram is located near the East coast of Bali, set in the countryside, one and a half hours north of Denpasar. It is nestled in the classically beautiful landscape of Bali's rice paddy fields, blending in harmoniously with the natural surroundings. It's a perfect setting for the spiritual community living there, comprising Ratu, his family and a group of Balinese who help in all aspects of running the Ashram. Since 1993 Western students have been drawn to this abode of highly transformational inner work, staying for weeks or months at a time and more recently forming a community of permanent residents.

Ratu’s Ashram and the shaking practice is open to everyone, regardless of the type or severity of one’s problems or age (Ratu’s 96 year-old mother shakes every day). The energy is open to everyone, all that is needed is a dedication to healing and a commitment to working purposefully upon oneself. Laughter, support and love make it possible to really enjoy the transformational experience. Initially, a minimum five-day stay is recommended to allow one to connect deeply to the sacred fire and begin the healing journey.
Since the beginning in 1987 the ashram has grown steadily in size and importance. This growth has always been an organic process but right now with the changes in the world occurring rapidly, Ratu is working tirelessly to expand the ashram into a high quality healing centre to help as many people as possible.
Testimonial
'There is a place in Bali that is truly transforming the lives of many. In the village of Muncan, at the foot of Mount Agung lies a unique community - the Ashram of Ratu Bagus. From humble beginnings of a house and training hut, today the Ashram is undergoing a major development, turning the once-unknown healer and a group of devoted followers into a thriving International healing centre where Westerners, Balinese and people from all over the Archipelago seek the transformational powers for which the Ashram is becoming renown. This has been made possible by some thirty-plus years of tireless work by Ratu Bagus, the Balinese families who live there and the support of Westerners, who continue to flock to this haven in search of healing, health and an understanding of life"
Ashram Community

The Ratu Bagus Ashram is reflective of the warmth and sweetness of the Balinese people. A visit to the Ashram, is like visiting your family, you feel immediately at home.
The Community on the Ashram is made up primarily of Balinese families, all with the same intention - to support Ratu and his mission. They work tirelessly, always with joy. Generally the permanent residents are long-term students of Ratu, some of whom were very sick. As they got better they decided to stay on and help with the running of the ashram. They look after the cooking, the cleaning, the maintenance, all of it done with love. The most obvious shinning examples of this are Ketut and Sukri, who have been with Ratu since the beginning.Their understanding of energy and the practice is beyond measure. Along with many others such as Guna, Ayu, Swastika, Gunatha, and Wayan whose loving, compassionate and supportive nature is an inspiration to all who meet them.
In fact the entire ashram is aglow with love and laughter because of the beautiful people that call it home. The community evolved further when a number of Western students chose to relocate to Bali, dedicating their lives to helping Ratu in whatever way they can.
When visiting the ashram one gets such a strong sense of being part of a very loving and beautiful family that is growing together, supporting each other and working towards the same goal - to help other people and to bring light, love and laughter into the world.
There are many children within the community who are experiencing what it means to live in a multi-cultural environment. The children form their own community, which allows them to develop their own individuality and creativity from a very young age.
The Taman
At the heart of the ashram is the Taman – meaning centre, a large and impressive building. This is where we go to practice, where ceremonies and celebrations are held. A lot of time is spent in this magnificent sacred hall. The frequency of light here is beyond words.
Ratu is usually in Taman during shaking sessions, building up the energy, teaching, providing support and inspiration.
Mount Agung - The Sacred Mountain
There are many volcanoes on the island of Bali. The most significant and sacred is Mount Agung

, sometimes referred to as Shiva’s mountain. Here, the embodiment of this energy can be felt strongly by many people. It is the spiritual heart of the island. The ashram itself sits at the base of its extensive foothills.
The mountain is very sacred to Ratu, as he has a profound energetic connection with it. Many people while staying at the ashram are drawn to climb it, often bringing about very powerful transformative experiences.
Always seeking the answers from nature, Ratu once meditated, after fasting for many days, drinking only coconut milk. He then burned two incense sticks as a symbol of the two strengths of Brahma and Vishnu (the Gods of Fire and Water), surrendering to the divine. He then visited many sacred sites and temples all over Bali such as Besakih, Batur, Tanah Lot.
He received a vision that the order that exists in the Universe also exits within the human body. It seems that God created the structure of the human body in microcosmic form, to reflect the structure of the Universe in the macrocosmic form. He then saw Mount Agung towering high.
In his meditation he saw a host of golden rays shining from the top of Mount Agung, and suddenly these holy rays entered him. He also heard a whispering that said: ”the strength of God is sitting in Mount Agung, I point toward you to conduct a job. I give you the strength to help human beings that suffer. I give you the name Ratu Bagus Jaya Kesuma Kawi.”
From this experience the ashram was born. The imposing sight and power of Mount Agung forms a constant presence throughout the entire Ashram.
