Well done Emma on completing the half marathon

A few words from Emma after her amazing run

Om swastiastu everyone.

Thank you so much for all the support and encouragement
I received while training for my half marathon. It really helped me
both on the day and in the preceding weeks – I've only ever raced 5K
before, so it was quite a scary prospect doing 13 miles.

That said, it went really well. It was a VERY hilly course and a
scorcher of a day - even at 9.30am - but despite not the easiest of
conditions, it was a beautiful run. Stunning scenery, bright sun and
friendly people made for an inspirational time. I held the medallion
all the way and definitely felt the energy behind me.

My official time was 2hrs 7mins 20 sec - way short of my estimated
2hrs 30 mins. And I came 210th out of 360. Not bad for a first effort
(or so I think anyway!)

I will send all sponsors an email shortly

On Sunday 27 September I'll be running in the Firle Half Marathon, in East Sussex. It's a whopping (to me!) 13 miles over hilly terrain, with some killer inclines but also some beautiful views of the South Downs.

IEmma Simkins've never run a half marathon before so it will be a challenge - but with the energy behind me, I don't see it being a problem. As well as wanting a goal to give me motivation for my running, I have also decided to collect sponsorship to help with the costs of running the Ratu website.

I've been given so many gifts through shaking so I decided that this is one way of giving something back. The support of everyone who donates – no matter how small your pledge – is enormously beneficial, so please do contribute! So far I've raised about £300, but am sure we can get this total up even more!

As it's my first half marathon, my goal is to get round in at least 2hrs 30mins. I'll let you know how I got on later...
