Wira is the son of Wayan and Kadek, he is a normal and happy 4 year old boy but things haven't always been that way. When he was born he had a very high fever so his father took him straight to the doctors who informed him that he had epilepsy and that the haemoglobin levels in his blood were dangerously low, he would need to find a blood donor immediately.
Fortunately Wayan was able to give his own blood, Wira spent the first months of his life in hospital where he had to endure many injections and routine checks, he was also constantly having seizures, the doctor said that he had to stay in hospital for the foreseeable future and undergo various courses of drugs.
Wayan refused for he knew in his heart that there was a better way for his son, so he took him to The Ratu Bagus Ashram. For two years Wira continued to have seizures but Wayan refused all conventional medicine because he knew that Ratu could help him, gradually with Ratu's constant love and support the seizures began to decrease and Wira's health started to improve.
Wayan and his family now live permanently on the ashram and Wira is a healthy and happy boy with no complications. With the financial support of Ratu he attends a playgroup in the neighbouring town of Gianyar, Wayan and Kadek consider themselves very lucky and blessed to have met Ratu as they are aware that not all children have the same chance in life.
They have a friend who has a child with the same complications as Wira, who had no choice but to take the route of conventional medicine, he was placed on many different drugs and is sadly now partially paralysed.
With Ratu's vision of a free spiritual hospital, situations like this could be avoided. In Bali the cost of decent healthcare is not in balance with the income that the people are able to earn, therefore the right to a basic necessity in life is not available for everyone.
